Wholeness By Habit was birthed with health as a whole in mind and Christ as the center. We cannot become whole without communing with our creator, first. This is where real health begins.

My journey to wholeness began with healing spiritually. I had to sort through trauma, forgive others (and myself), let go of anger, bitterness and resentment and learn how to let the voice of God trump the negative voices in my head. I had to unlearn and relearn some things about God. Getting to know Him for who He really is allowed me to believe in who He says I am.

Delving deeper into my daily, hand-in-hand walk with Christ opened my eyes to the negative impact that being spiritually void was having on my mental, emotional and physical health. While this blog will be mostly spirit and scripture driven, I will also share scientific studies to support evidence of the affects that emotional distress has on our physical bodies.

I was not kind to myself for many years. I was wildly insecure, dominated by fear and anxiety, battled depression, constantly in survival mode and I had an unhealthy relationship with food- I either overindulged or deprived, there was no in between.

I wanted to be rid of anything that was causing me to be unhealthy. I wanted to become the healthiest version of myself. I wanted to become whole.

As I became healthier spiritually, mentally and emotionally it was a natural progression towards physical health. I yearned to take better care of His temple (my body). After all, this is where He dwells, and, if I don’t want to live in a filthy home, I should suspect the King of kings doesn’t want to either.

So, I began cultivating a healthier lifestyle in all facets. This included food consumption, which, inevitably affects physical health. However, by maintaining a clean diet my body and mind feel less infringed upon (I’ll share studies on how food effects our minds) and in return I’m able to focus more clearly on where God is trying to take me in His ministry for my life.

This cleaner eating lifestyle translated into cleaner living conditions in our home: eliminating toxic chemicals in our cleaning products, health and beauty supplies and other miscellaneous household items.

Everything we absorb effects us. Whether it be the music we listen to that frames our perspective, the shows we watch that impact our behaviors, the people we ‘follow’ that influence our biases, the books we read that mold our minds (this is why it’s imperative to read the Bible), the foods we eat that transform our bodies, the products we apply that alter our skin; the list goes on and on. We are sponges. Regulating what we ingest in all realms is crucial!

Remember, cultivating a new lifestyle doesn’t happen instantaneously. I began by setting realistic and attainable goals/expectations for myself and I learned to celebrate the “small” victories. This developed healthy habits, which, ultimately created a lifestyle. Now, here I am, five years in, with revelations from God, a little bit of knowledge under my belt and few tips and trick for cleaner living and I want to share my journey with you! So, I’ll be sharing my real life stories and struggles throughout this journey to wholeness and pray that through this blog, you will begin your journey to Wholeness By Habit, too.
